[ Personal ]  [Legislative History]  [Community Service] [Awards]

Patrick J. Tiberi is serving his fourth term in the Ohio House of Representatives.  He was first elected in 1992 to represent the 26th House District, which includes the Northland, far North and Northwest areas of Columbus and Franklin County.

In 1996, Tiberi was elected by his Republican colleagues to serve as the Assistant Majority Leader, the fourth ranking Republican post in the Ohio House.  In 1998, Tiberi was promoted to the third ranking leadership position of Majority Leader.

Tiberi, age 37, and his wife, Denice, live in the Northland area of Columbus.  Tiberi is a first generation born American and life-long resident of the 12th Congressional District.

Prior to being elected to office, Tiberi served for eight years as an assistant to Congressman John Kasich.  Tiberi credits Kasich with encouraging him (Tiberi) to pursue a career in public service.

During his tenure in the Ohio House, Tiberi served as Chairman of the Economic Development and Small Business Committee (the youngest chairman since the 1994 Ohio House Republican majority takeover).  He was also Co-Chairman of the Committee on Decentralization of State Government.  Tiberi now serves as Vice Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee.

Tiberi has played a prominent role as a legislative leader.  He has authored many pieces of legislation that have positively effected the lives of Ohioans.  This includes legislation that created a DNA database to track violent criminals, established comprehensive lawsuit abuse reform, required performance audits on Ohio’s 21 urban school districts, protected the elderly and disabled from financial con artists and initiated nursing home consumer report cards.  He has also proposed legislation to offer income tax credits to people who donate to charities, and legislation to reform Ohio’s Death Tax law.  Tiberi also led the fight to speed the widening of I-270’s North Outerbelt, a project that is now underway.

Tiberi is a past President of the Forest Park Civic Association.  He is a current member of the American Red Cross Columbus Chapter Advisory Board and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Franklin County Board.  Tiberi is the co-founder of the Windsor Terrace Learning Center in Columbus, a co-founder of the Columbus Young Leaders Group and a member of the Sons of Italy.  Pat Tiberi was the 1999 Chairman of the Columbus Italian Festival.

He is a past recipient of over a dozen statewide “Legislator of the Year” awards from respected organizations including NFIB Ohio, the Ohio CPA’s, the American Institute of Architects, the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and Ohio police officers.  Tiberi is also a past recipient of the Business First Top 40 Under 40 Award and the Watchdog of the Treasury Award in recognition of his efforts to protect the interests of Ohio taxpayers.

Tiberi is a graduate of Northland High School, where he was elected senior class President.  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University in 1985.  He was a member of the OSU Marching Band.  Pat is a Realtor with ReMax Achievers in Southern Delaware County.

Tiberi and Denice attend St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he is a lector.
