Rep. Pat Tiberi, R-Genoa Township, sent a check worth nearly $200,000 to the federal treasury — it’s the money he saved last year from his allotment for office salaries, rent and other office expenses.
Since Tiberi has been in Congress in 2001, he has saved $2.1 million in office expenses. Breann Gonzalez, a Tiberi spokeswoman, said the congress man saves money through “a combination of sensible spending and prudent decision making over his career in office.’’
For example, Tiberi is not known for buying the latest model of flat-screen TV or the most modern Black-Berries or cellphones.
